Technological Ingenuity and Curiosity in the XXI Century” Apre l’architetto di fama internazionale Sandra Piesik, che si occuperà del rapporto tra le invenzioni e le intuizioni di Leonardo da Vinci ed i costruttori del suo tempo, cercando di adattare idee del passato ad un futuro più sostenibile, come presentato nel suo libro “HABITAT: Vernacular Architecture for a Changing Planet”. Landscape projects for resilient communities inside Mediterranean environments, oriented on low cost budgets. Speaking about “Parco Uditore” and “Salita Raffadali”, a journey trough different declinations inside a shared mediterranean landscape. Leonardo’s curiosity about nature and man, combined with scientific inquiry, led to some remarkable inventions that are part of our daily life today, and some of these inventions relate to the built environment. Indigenous people shared the same curiosity and ingenuity as the giant of the High Renaissance; the scientific inquiry of their natural and built environments also produced lasting technological inventions that stood the test of time. The pace of technological changes in the Anthropocene area, the rise of the uncontrolled virtual ecosystems, detachment of technological and human development from nature and the fragmentation of solutions, raises some serious questions about our capacity to inhabit the planet in a sustainable way. In this talk, Dr Sandra Piesik will explore synergies between Leonardo da Vinci’ and indigenous builders in their approaches to technological innovation in connection with nature in the context of the encyclopaedia “HABITAT: Vernacular Architecture for a Changing Planet” and share a possible ideas for adaption in order to have a more sustainable future.
